Welcome to Simwings.nl

Sharpen your MS Flight Simulator skills by going through some training flights and simulated missions. vNAVCAD and Pax River Virtual will allow you to fly as a naval aviator in the roles of naval aviation cadet, U.S. Navy attack pilot and U.S. Navy test pilot.

Prior flightsim knowledge is expected!!! Although some of the flights are quite basic, they do not teach you flightsim flying techniques from the basis. I have used both commercial aircraft products and freeware downloads creating the missions and training.

Virtual NAVCAD (vNAVCAD)

The year is 1965 and you are a student in the US Navy Training command. Your path before being assigned to a fleet squadron will take you from the T-34 Mentor to the T-2 Buckeye and finally, during your Advanced Training, the TA-4 Skyhawk. Through a short series of flights per type - many of which you may of course fly as often as you want! - you will finally have the option to either join a Skyhawk or an Intruder squadron. Your next stop: Yankee Station, Gulf of Tonkin, off the coast of North Vietnam.

Pax River virtual

Although not nearly as famous as the Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards AFB, California, the US Navy's Test Pilot School (USNTPS)and Naval Air Weapons Center (NAWC) at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland, is still the place to be for many naval aviators. Famous alumni and active test pilots that crossed the gates at "Pax River" include Alan Shepard, John Glenn and James Lovell (commander of Apollo 13).

At Patuxent River, you will fly a set of engineering flights to test aerodynamics and flight behavior of a wide range of aircraft, either experimental or operational. Recovering from stalls and spins should become second nature here, as well as your ability to establish aircraft limitations and operational capabilities.
